Telling stories and learning from other human beings
I love telling stories and I love conveying to others why human beings are the way they are…. And I love the challenge of explaining the deeper currencies of life through film which is a complex medium where visuals, sound, speech and movement come together to create one artistic whole.
After having produced and shown (and continue to show) in various cinemas, institutions, universities and organisations in many countries the documentary Why Women Need to Climb Mountains – A Documentary on the Life and Vision of Dr. Gerda Lerner I have created a few short films and the Swiss film True Healing Arises in Freedom.
Recently I directed and produced two small animation films in collaboration with the German artist and painter Alfred Bast on his artistic work of From the Visible Form to the Invisible Impact. Both the Main Film (18min) and the Epilog (3min) can be seen here.
In 2020 I finished a documentary film called In the Fire of Dancing Stillness – reflections with Vimala Thakar. The inspiration and framework of this documentary comes from Vimala Thakar (1921 – 2009), an Indian mystic, philosopher and social grass-roots activist. She was a woman who was in love with the totality of life and who was very aware of the challenges awaiting us in the 21st century. inthefireofdancingstillness.com
The Film The Future Speaks Ruthlessly Through Her was my first film. Although it is a ‘beginners film’ I am showing it here. I made it for my Masters and the subject still has relevance for our times and may be interesting for some readers.
